So, remember when I said I was going to adapt Chopin’s Étude Op. 10 #4 into a trance or techno track for this week? Well-l-l…There’s a reason we still talk about Frédéric Chopin 200 years after he started composing. I’m just a middle-aged computer security wonk who does music as a hobby. Ze harmony, she izz too complex for my leetle brain to comprehend! Not really, but to take it apart to see what makes it tick and then put a modern electronic spin on it in a week is beyond my current skill level and available time. MAYBE if I were on vacation from work this week I could pull it off. But I doubt even that.
So I think we’re going back to plan A and kick out a modal composition for this week’s Saturday Sounds. I don’t want to give Monsieur Chopin (yes, I know he was Polish, but he had French citizenship too and died in France…and I don’t know the equivalent Polish honorific!) short shrift. I will revisit this idea someday, but it’s going to take a while to do it.
