The twelfth track is a little song I call “Long Weekend”. This is about as close to uplifting as I come, it seems! So far anyway.

It was not my attention to write a happy sounding track. It just sort of happened. I am putting the Push 2 to a little more work now. I used it to record a couple live melodies and was used a lot in the mixing process. As an old guy I appreciate the more immediate feel of controller knobs when I’m working on stuff.

I feel like this mix is stronger than my previous efforts. I still have SO much to learn, but I am discerning progress along that front. I think that my concern that I would give mixing and mastering short shrift I think is not terribly well founded as I’m finding that I’m working faster now that I’ve achieved a certain level of comfort with Live and the Push.

Overall, I think this is one of my better efforts, and moreover I feel like my work post “Mothership Returns” is becoming more consistently higher quality.
